Special focus: education and training (pre-Workshop course)

Description: Toxicological risk assessment is the process of estimating the qualitative and quantitative health risks posed to man and the environment by using chemicals. Risk assessment involves a thorough understanding of the toxic phenomena’ scientific basis and the ability to integrate the critical information necessary to present the risk of exposure to a chemical.

Objectives: To provide comprehensive training in toxicological risk assessment; to build the capacity of students and researchers that aim to have a gain of knowledge in this subject. Emphasis will be placed on the identification of hazards and risks posed to human health.

Content of the course: The course consists of lectures presented virtually. Cases studies of specific groups of chemicals will be discussed to exemplify the practical application of risk assessment. It is assumed that participants have pre-knowledge of the general principles of toxicology and English proficiency because course communication will be in English.
